Melso Docs

Use Claude Code tasks from WhatsApp

Link WhatsApp to Melso, request a Claude Code task, and review the result. Setup steps, account requirements, and what the connection can access.

You can message Melso on WhatsApp and ask it to start a Task using Claude Code. Melso coordinates the work, Claude Code runs it in a cloud sandbox, and the Melso assistant brings the result back to your conversation. The Task keeps a record you can open and review on the web.

This connects WhatsApp to Melso's assistant. It does not turn your WhatsApp account into a direct chat with Claude, connect a local Claude Code terminal, or give an agent access to your other WhatsApp conversations.

Before you start

You need a Melso account, a company you can access, and WhatsApp. Claude Code must be available for your account: model execution can use Melso Gateway credit, an enabled Anthropic API key, or your own connected Claude Code account. Check Settings → AI providers and the provider account guide if execution is unavailable.

For work that needs a repository or an app, connect that resource in Melso and allow it in the Task's Area. Linking WhatsApp does not grant access to other accounts or repositories.

  1. Open Melso, sign in, and select the company you want to work with.
  2. Open Settings → My agent and choose Connect WhatsApp.
  3. Choose Open WhatsApp and send the prepared link message to Melso. You can also send link <code> using the code shown in Settings.
  4. Wait for the connection to show Connected, then describe the work in the same WhatsApp conversation.

Each chat account links to one company. Check the company shown on the connection before sending company work. You can move or disconnect the connection in Settings → My agent. If a link code expires, choose Connect WhatsApp again to generate a new one.

Ask for a Claude Code task

Name Claude Code explicitly when that is the agent you want. For example:

Use Claude Code to review the README in our connected repository. Prepare a clearer setup section and show me the proposed changes. Do not publish them.

Melso checks the available execution options and starts the Task when the required access and funding are available. A request to use Claude Code does not itself confirm that a Run started: check the Task and its execution status. If Melso reports missing access or provider capacity, resolve that before retrying.

You can send follow-up instructions in the conversation, answer questions that block the work, and open the Task on the web to inspect its output. Review the proposed changes before approving publication or a merge.

What this connection can do

Your intentHow Melso handles it
Request work from WhatsAppThe Melso assistant can create and follow a Task.
Use Claude Code for that workA Task Run uses Claude Code when it is available and selected.
Read a repository or use a business appAccess depends on your connected resources and the Task's Area permissions.
Read all of your WhatsApp chatsLinking your chat does not provide this access.
Connect a local MCP clientUse the separate MCP documentation.

If the workflow stops

  • No connected chat: finish sending the link message and check Settings for the connection status.
  • Wrong company: move the connection to the intended company in Settings before requesting more work.
  • Claude Code unavailable: check Settings → AI providers for funding, account access, or a provider limit. Linking WhatsApp does not bypass these requirements.
  • A Task needs input: answer its question in the conversation or open the Task on the web. Activity alone does not mean the work is complete.

For programmatic task creation instead of chat, use the API quickstart.
